GENERAL

What is Happy Cashew?

Our claim is to make the world a slightly happier place – with vegan products that are simply better. Cream cheese, Parmesan or Camembert: our cheese alternatives are not only totally convincing when it comes to taste – our customers even find they taste much better than the originals – but also with regard to the formulation. We use natural, organic raw materials and process them extremely carefully so that as many nutrients as possible are retained. Unlike many comparable brands, Happy Cashew deliberately avoids artificial additives, flavours or preservatives. Instead, we ensure that our products keep well using fermentation and limit our formulations to the essentials. Whether it’s Classic, Wild Garlic, herbes de Provence, fenugreek or Greek herbs, our cheese alternatives contain only cashew kernels, filtered water, rock salt, vegan fermentation cultures, various herbs and a large helping of love.

Why Happy Cashew?

Environmental protection, love of animals, food allergies or health: there are many reasons for switching to a vegan diet. But to give up certain foods overnight that you have regularly enjoyed eating is not so easy. Cheese and other dairy products, more than anything else, present a big challenge for many people when they decide to eat a vegan diet. And this is where Happy Cashew comes in. With our products, we offer the perfect solution for anyone who is looking for healthy, natural and, above all, tasty alternatives to cheese made from cow’s milk. A plant-based diet should have nothing to do with going without. It should enrich our lives. We are convinced of this – and you can taste this with every piece of Happy Cashew!

Is Happy Cashew only suitable for vegans?

Whether you eat a vegetarian or a vegan diet, follow the paleo philosophy or are simply curious to try something new, we would like to prove to you how tasty vegan products can be and that a plant-based diet makes you really happy. You don’t need to worry about signs of deficiencies as long as you eat a balanced diet. The assumption that milk is an important source of calcium has long been proven wrong. Calcium from plant foods like spinach, tahini, broccoli or cabbage can be absorbed by the body much better. Proteins can also be derived from plants at least as well as from animal foods – pulses, nuts and seeds are true protein miracles!

Can I eat Happy Cashew, and especially Happy White, during pregnancy?

We manufacture our products with great care and under the highest standards of hygiene. The fermentation method we use to ensure food keeps well has been tried and tested over centuries. Nevertheless, we recommend that people with a weakened immune system, such as the elderly, pregnant women and small children, talk to their doctor before consuming raw foods.

Is Happy Cashew suitable for people with allergies?

The allergens in Happy Cashew are shown in the ingredients list on each product. All of our products are naturally gluten and lactose-free.

DISPATCH / DELIVERY

When are goods dispatched?

We dispatch ordered goods Monday to Wednesday exclusively, to avoid our products being left over the weekend in the warehouse of the contracted carrier. Orders that arrive from Wednesday on are dispatched the following week.

Where does Happy Cashew deliver to?

Happy Cashew delivers to Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, UK, Netherlands and Switzerland.

What are the delivery costs?

The delivery costs in Germany are EUR 6.99 and EUR 13.90 in Luxembourg. In Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, they are EUR 13.99.

This price includes not only the transport costs for a UPS parcel but also the costs for a robust cardboard delivery box and the packaging process itself. We have not included the supplement for CO2-neutral delivery..

As we deliver chilled products with a relatively short use-by date, we depend on our packages being delivered quickly. Neither can we switch to a cheaper carrier with longer delivery times. A further argument against this are unmotivated couriers who work for starvation wages and who have to deliver many parcels in much too short a time. The price competition for ever cheaper deliveries is quite clearly borne by these people, a fact that we cannot reconcile with our company philosophy.

Due to its reliability and speed, UPS has so far been able to withdraw from the price competition. Fair payment, reliability and careful handling of the transported goods are our priorities in this respect. Combined with our thermal boxes, along with eco-friendly and effective wood wool as padding material, we have so far been able to prevent damage during transport effectively. As a rule, all domestic parcels get to their recipients within 2 working days, often even within 24 hours.

For the reasons mentioned, we are convinced of the wisdom of choosing UPS for our deliveries and hope to have found a reliable partner for the future.

How does my Happy Cashew stay chilled during transport?

For special logistics requirements, special thermal boxes can be used: these are cardboard boxes with “insulated fleece” and ice packs. These ensure that Happy Cashew remains optimally chilled during transport – you can learn more about our special packaging here erfahren.

What happens if I am not at home when the delivery arrives?

Germany:

The day before your delivery, you receive a UPS tracking number with which you can track your parcel.

Deliveries are made between 8 AM and 12 PM.

You can see the time slot when your parcel will be delivered via the UPS tracking system.

UPS signature release authorisation

If you are not at home for the delivery, you can give UPS a signature release authorisation (fix the signature release authorisation to your front door so that it can easily be seen by the courier or give it to the appropriate UPS branch). Then the driver leaves your parcel at a location defined by you – e.g. at your front door or in front of the garage.

UPS Access Point

Even if you are not at home, or do not want to have your parcel left at the door or handed over to neighbours, you can have your parcel sent directly to a UPS drop off location

This is a convenient way for you to pick up your Happy Cashew during their opening times. At present, there are around 2,500 UPS drop off locations available

Does Happy Cashew use organic ingredients?

Yes, we use organic ingredients exclusively.

Does Happy Cashew use raw cashews?

For a variety of reasons, we do not use any so-called ”raw cashews“: On the one hand, we are not convinced that these are really raw – at least, we have not yet managed to get the kernel to sprout. On the other hand, we do not want to support the type of shelling process that carries very high risks of injury for workers.

Neither can we reconcile the pricing policy that operates here with our philosophy. We use the best unroasted organic cashews that we can get hold of and create from them new products interspersed with living microorganisms, which by the end have only little to do with the original products due to the fermentation and ripening process. For example, the fat content is reduced from 60 percent (unprocessed cashew kernels) to 37 percent (ripened cheese). During the entire production process, the heat does not exceed 42 °C in any spot. Our products are not pasteurised – therefore, in our opinion, they qualify as raw foods.

Does Happy Cashew qualify as a raw food?

Through the fermentation of the cashew mass, we create a new living product. During the entire production process, the heat does not exceed 42 °C in any spot. Our products are not pasteurised – therefore, in our opinion, they qualify as raw foods.

PREPARATION

What is the best way to eat Happy Cashew?

For the best taste, take the product out of its packaging a few hours before eating and leave it to rest uncovered in the refrigerator.

Can Happy Cashew be frozen?

All Happy Cashew products, except for Happy White, can be frozen for approx. 3 months. We recommend freezing in the original plastic packaging and slow thawing.

SHELF LIFE

How does my Happy Cashew stay chilled during transport?

For special logistics requirements, special thermal boxes can be used: these are cardboard boxes with “insulated fleece” and ice packs. In this way, Happy Cashew stays optimally chilled during transport.

How long does Happy Cashew keep for?

You will find the shelf life for Happy Cashew on the product website and the product packaging.

For optimal freshness, we recommend a fridge temperature of 4-8°C.

Can I leave Happy Cashew to ripen at home?

Our ripened cheese alternatives keep best if they are stored without the packaging uncovered in the refrigerator, ideally at 4-8 degrees and in conditions of low air humidity. Occasional turning and dabbing with liquid increases the shelf life. The living enzymes in Happy Cashew enable it to continue to mature, so that it becomes even tastier and firmer over time.

Our cream cheese alternative must be consumed within 3 days of opening the pack.
